I also downloaded this app from the appstore and I was able to sync my iTouch with this program and my dives were imported as well as all the other info like my certificates etc. I cant figure out though how to add a dive manually in this app. It is not very intuitive.
Not sure where the problem lies. Its like it only installed 75% of the app with the remaining 25% the stuff that makes it go.
Like everyone else, I cant add any dives, making the whole software rather useless. Im sure this is a bug that will be fixed in the next version but as is the app doesnt serve any purpose. --edit: There is another app which is called Dive Log DT (19.99$) to actually edit your log book. So this free app is merely a viewer, if you want to edit/record your dives (duh) then you have to buy Dive Log DT for 19.99$
Ive DLd it. Ive updated it twice. It does not _do_ anything other than let you create a database. BUT, you cannot enter data INTO it. Developer is not replying. I guess its free and it is worthless.
I have installed Dive Log Manger on my Mac and Dive Log DT on my iPad and both works perfectly together. The 2 reasons why not 5 stars is that it needs more dive computers added. I have a Suunto Viper Air and my wife Suunto Cobra 3. So I Have to use Mac Dive to download from dive computers into my Mac then import them into Dive Log. I much prefer DIve Log to Mac Dive for how it works and looks also you can have your buddy sign your log book using the iPad. The other reason is that it doesnt have any area for to input multi level dives just a single dive. However Mac Dive doesnt have it either.
Too bad Janice forgot to mention this is Fakeware. This version is totally a window. Just a preview of the app. You can do nothing except look at the layout of the screens. If you are looking for the app dont get this. Free as in empty beer glass.
This is not "fakeware" as claimed by another reviewer. It does its job just fine, allowing syncing of dive records with the iPhone app. Do I wish it did more? Absofrickinlutely. Two way sync with other dive log programs would be nice, though that functionality is sort of accomplished with the pay version. I do wish it could sync with anyof the various online dive log services. If the pay version did that, I would pay for it in a heartbeat.
Useless without the $20.00 version
I dont generally make a habit of slamming products, but if the description had told me I need an iPhone to make this app work, I would not have wasted the time I did downloading and trying to figure it out. Not worth the time
I actually inputted all my dives from my paper dive log to the iPhone App a while ago. It transferred over to this desktop App without a problem wirelessly. Nice to have a backup.
You cant input data on your Mac, you have to sync dive data from your iPhone.
An easy way to back up your dive log from the "Dive Log" app for your iPhone to your Mac. The $20 version is what you need to look at your log... Ive been using the manager to back up my dive logs for months and had no problems.
Great app. I can now review all my dives on my desktop rather than only on my iPhone. It synced with my iPhone easily. Puts my mind at ease knowning all my dives are backed up.
Syncs well with the $9.99 iPhone app on my MAC. Glad I downloaded.
Whats the point! its not even a DEMO.... you cant even create one dive! This is useless and if the company puts that much effort into the trial.... Im not even going to bother looking at the real app.
I agree with both sides of the fence - its a good app and it does what it says if you pay close attention to what it claims. BUT with the word "Manager" in the title one would expect to be able to actually manage their dive log. In order to "Manage" a dive log one should be able to "edit" it. The word "Manager" in the title should be replaced with something more accurate or add the word LITE to it as other free apps do. However, according to their website, you can purchase the license, which is simply an upgrade to the DT version. The DT version does allow you to actually "Manage" your dive log by editing details. Future consumer beware. If you want to modify (beyond merge) or actually "manage" your log - do not download this app. Save yourself the time and PURCHASE the DT version or PURCHASE the iPad/iPhone version and "manage" your dive logs from iOS. Recommend the author reword their description as follows: Dive Log Manager is a free desktop applcation that allows you to BACKUP, VIEW and MERG ENTRIES from your digital dive log data on your iOS device onto your desktop.
Can wait to put this to good use in Belize. Cant wait for December.
Not sure what all of the fuss is. When I go diving, I take my iPad with me and mark the dive sight with the mobile apps GPS locator. I then enter the data for each dive on site. Easy as I have plenty of time between dives. This app is perfect for this. When get home, I sync the dive computer with my Mac and merge the two together. Sadly, it is not possible to sync the dive computer with the iPad, but this is an Apple/iPad limitation, not a Dive Log issue. Once merged on the Mac, I sync all data back to the iPad for the next dive trip, which is sadly never soon enough. Take the simplicity of the app, plus that fact that every time I have emailed Sven, the developer with a question or an issue, he ALWAYS has emailed me back. Plus, I have asked for new features and he listens. I have used this app for 3 years now and he doing a great job supporting me. This app does exactly what I need, to keep track of my dives in a nice, graphical manor.
This app could be good if the developer would put even a little effort into it. Syncing is a mess. it works, but its ugly compared to everything else. Why doesnt it just sync through the cloud like every other app without all the manual crap and having to name the files etc. I have one logbook, the end. I dont need to create a new logbook file everytime I use this app. I wanna type something in on my phone and it show up here and vice versa. The location information is confusing. The city/island country/region is weird. Why not just country, city, state like everything else on the planet? Signing with a finger looks awful, and diving in random countries, there is not always a verifier, so maybe make the signature spot optional especially since there is no place in the signature area to say what type of verifier it was or for them to put their certification number. Thats the kind of unpolished half hearted care taken with the design of this app. At least it gets updated fairly regularly. Just enough to let us know the developer is alive, not much more, though.
